SUMMARY:
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care and support to residents, ensuring their well-being and safety throughout daily activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist with meal service and feeding, ensuring residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration between meals.

2. Support personal hygiene needs by providing bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; aid residents in traveling to the restroom; assist with showers and baths.

3. Help residents with mobility, including ambulating, turning, and positioning them comfortably. Monitor resident stability by checking vital signs and documenting intake and output data.

4. Ensure resident comfort by utilizing available resources; respond to call lights and requests; report any observations regarding residents to the nursing supervisor.

5. Maintain accurate documentation by completing necessary forms, reports, logs, and records.
6. Uphold privacy and dignity by safeguarding patient information; adhere to HIPAA regulations and related laws.

7. Follow professional standards, company policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including JCAHO standards when relevant.

8. Enhance job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities, reading professional literature, engaging in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are required:
- Current certification as a Patient Care Assistant in accordance with state regulations.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Preferred experience in long-term care settings.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
