Position Overview
The Strategic Communications Lead will report directly to the Director of Communication and will work in partnership with various departments to create and execute communication plans that resonate with Mediabistro's core values and objectives. This role encompasses the oversight of both internal and external communication initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the creation of all printed and digital materials, ensuring accessibility and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Develop and manage content across Mediabistro's social media platforms, utilizing analytics to refine strategies and support advocacy initiatives.
  • Regularly update and maintain the company website to ensure current and relevant information is accessible.
  • Lead email marketing efforts, including the composition of newsletters and tracking audience engagement.
  • Assist in the design and execution of public awareness campaigns aimed at promoting community resilience and behavioral health resources.
  • Ensure consistent branding across all communications by adhering to Mediabistro's style guidelines and providing support to various departments.
  • Participate in the development of proposals for communication projects, defining project scopes, deliverables, and budgets.
  • Act as the primary contact for communication-related contracts, monitoring vendor performance and ensuring deliverables are met.
  • Write articles and conduct interviews that highlight the impact of Mediabistro's initiatives and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to organize events that promote community engagement.
  • Support staff in managing communications for meetings and training sessions.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual impact report, overseeing content creation, design, and distribution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in communications or public relations, preferably within a nonprofit or governmental context.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and tools, with a strong understanding of engagement strategies.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion, with a focus on applying these principles in all communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Experience with website management and content creation tools.
  • Familiarity with design software such as Canva and Adobe Suite is preferred.
