As a CNC Machining Process Engineer, your responsibilities will include...
- Enhancing and developing CNC Mill machining processes while supporting both new and existing CNC Mills and other machinery.
- Creating comprehensive manufacturing instructions and programming data to produce machined components and sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications.
- Defining manufacturing methodologies and operational sequences; establishing tooling, gauging, and machine requirements for the fabrication of parts and sub-assemblies across various products.
- Engaging in hands-on problem-solving within production environments to enhance processes related to your assigned components, addressing issues stemming from tooling, machinery, gauging, heat treatment, and plating.
- Collaborating effectively with diverse teams and proactively reaching out to other departments when necessary to resolve issues.
- Facilitating the timely and efficient processing of components by generating operation sheets and manufacturing procedures for assigned tasks.
- Ensuring alignment between engineering drawings and manufacturing capabilities by reviewing designs and proposing modifications to improve manufacturability.
- Producing accurate and functional N/C programming tapes by translating detailed N/C program outlines into specific coded machine instructions, and assisting machinists during program validation.
- Determining standard times for setup and operation of each task related to assigned components.
- Conducting studies aimed at enhancing the efficiency of part manufacturing, including recommendations for improvements in equipment, processes, materials, and designs.
- Monitoring jobs during the initial manufacturing phase to ensure proper processing and making necessary adjustments to tooling and procedures.
- Consulting with the Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader to address complex processing details.
- Preparing rework operation sheets for salvaging non-conforming parts and implementing corrective actions to minimize future discrepancies.
- Establishing concepts for tooling, gauging, and fixtures; reviewing and approving design drawings while estimating the time required for design and fabrication.
- Creating detailed operation sheets and N/C programs, estimating setup and run hours for production components, and assessing design and build hours for tooling.
- Assisting the Group Leader in preparing cost estimates for new projects.
- Providing technical guidance or training to Associate Manufacturing Engineers.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or as a Manufacturing Technician (alternative qualifications include:
- Associate's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
- High School diploma/GED with 8+ years of relevant experience
- Proven experience in implementing and supporting CNC Milling Machining applications, particularly with multi-axis vertical or horizontal machining centers.
- This role requires access to export-controlled information.
- Experience in programming, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting complex machining processes on multi-axis/multi-function CNC machines, especially 5-axis Mills (strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with Okuma 5-Axis Mill Machines.
- Preference for a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience within the aerospace sector.
- Knowledge of machine automation integration.
- Experience in inspecting machined components.
- Proficiency in machining materials such as stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum.
- Experience with CNC Programming using Siemens NX software.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles; Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
