POSITION OBJECTIVE

CalBio is in search of a detail-oriented and driven professional to fill the role of GHG Project Analyst. This position, reporting to the Manager of GHG Projects and under the guidance of the Director or Senior Director of GHG Programs, focuses on facilitating the essential processes for the successful generation of Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) RIN credits, and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) across CalBio's diverse project portfolio. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the transition towards a sustainable, low-carbon economy.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of the GHG Project Analyst include:

  • Grasping the credit generation process within applicable GHG reporting frameworks.
  • Creating project-specific carbon intensity (CI) calculators and verifying data accuracy.
  • Drafting Fuel Pathway Application documentation, including LCA reports and site-specific inputs.
  • Preparing necessary documents for quarterly and annual regulatory submissions.
  • Maintaining project-specific trackers and document management protocols.
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies, misreporting, and data inaccuracies during the verification process.
  • Compiling responses for third-party auditors conducting annual validations.
  • Engaging in site visits with dairy partners, verifiers, and internal teams.
  • Upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency in GHG credit accounting practices.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Further responsibilities encompass:

  • Grant Preparation and Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of grant applications through public agencies, particularly in calculating anticipated GHG reductions and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Data Analysis: Collaborating with the CalBio Data Team to monitor critical metrics related to each digester project, including gas production and quality, GHG reductions, and CI scores, and preparing reports that effectively communicate these metrics.
  • Other: Adapting to evolving roles and responsibilities as the company grows, and pursuing opportunities for professional development as interests and knowledge expand.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, public policy, political science, engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in climate/energy policy or environmental issues within business, government, or non-profit sectors.
  • Technical familiarity with the energy and/or dairy sectors is advantageous.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, capable of conveying technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A willingness to tackle new challenges and explore various subject areas.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • A valid driver's license and eligibility to operate a vehicle in California.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is based in our Costa Mesa, CA office, with the flexibility to work remotely up to three days per week. The role may require occasional site visits in agricultural settings, primarily outdoors. Conditions may vary, with temperatures ranging from 30°F in winter to 115°F in summer. Adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
