Key Responsibilities of the Housekeeper

The Housekeeper plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness of communal areas and resident accommodations. This position requires adherence to established cleaning protocols and a natural affinity for working with seniors, along with a genuine concern for their welfare. The Housekeeper must also be observant of any changes in residents' conditions and communicate these to management promptly.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Adhere to established performance standards and execute tasks in accordance with company policies.
  • Dust and clean various surfaces including wall vents, handrails, ceiling fans, baseboards, furniture, and blinds.
  • Vacuum and spot clean carpets, and shampoo as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of sofas and chairs through vacuuming and spot cleaning.
  • Inspect walls for marks and remove them as necessary.
  • Sanitize bathrooms and replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soap.
  • Ensure all cleaning chemicals are stored safely and properly labeled, keeping housekeeping carts secured from resident access.
  • Collect and dispose of trash appropriately.
  • Implement proper cleaning and infection control measures.
  • Identify and report any special resident needs or concerns to the supervisor.
  • Notify maintenance of any items requiring attention, including safety hazards.
  • Recognize safety risks and emergency situations, taking appropriate action.
  • Utilize wet floor signs in public areas when cleaning.
  • Engage in training programs, staff meetings, and in-service education as required.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Address resident and family concerns with professionalism and report them to the supervisor.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism in all situations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Handle hazardous cleaning chemicals safely.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment and assist colleagues as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support and participate in resident-centered activities.
  • Contribute to projects or committees as assigned.
  • Attend all required associate meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist with various tasks involving residents as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated compassion and care for seniors, with the ability to interact courteously and diplomatically with residents and staff.
  • Proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing in English.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in a hospitality or senior living environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Completion of all necessary employment screenings, including background checks and drug tests.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
