Job Title: Children's Program Specialist

At The Institute for Human Services, Inc., we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Program Specialist to join our team. This role is a vital part of our Children and Family programs, providing essential support to homeless or at-risk children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and Children's Program staff to ensure program compliance and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a culturally sensitive curriculum of activities and lesson plans to promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
  • Interact with children using approved child guidance techniques and development tools, modeling effective social and parenting behaviors.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, safety, and program records, providing data to support outcome measures.
  • Assist with the daily USDA snacks program and ensure compliance with USDA standards.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants, detecting early signs of distress or abnormal behavior.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of approved child guidance techniques and development tools.
  • Effective prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and database applications.
  • Personal qualities of integrity and commitment to mission.
  • Flexible and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development, Education, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with children in a multi-cultural and low socio-economic setting.
  • Basic understanding of the issues affecting homelessness and its impact on families.

This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday, starting at 1:00 PM, with some morning hours during school breaks. The Institute for Human Services, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and maintains a Drug and Alcohol-free Workplace.
