Department Overview:
Student and Campus Life (SCL) is dedicated to fostering transformation in all Cornell students, guiding them through their individual, academic, and personal journeys. Our division comprises experts in student affairs who address vital student life issues, including public service, health, wellness, social justice, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
As part of the Campus Life Enterprise Services (CLES), the Facilities Support Team is responsible for detailed custodial maintenance, event assistance, and audio-visual support across various student centers. The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure that all community spaces are clean and well-maintained, contributing to a positive experience for building users and visitors.
  • Assess custodial maintenance needs and execute tasks to uphold high cleanliness standards.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and customer service skills to communicate clearly with a diverse range of guests and students.
  • Adapt to changing schedules and tasks, including support for special events and unforeseen circumstances.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least one year of relevant experience in a customer service role. Additional qualifications include:

  • Ability to read and write effectively in English.
  • Basic computer skills and troubleshooting experience.
  • A valid NY State driver's license.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate necessary equipment.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional education or experience in custodial roles, particularly within student or event centers, is advantageous. Familiarity with event setups and basic audiovisual support is also preferred.

Compensation:
The position is part of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union, with pay starting at $20.03/hour, as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
