About the Role

AHRC Nassau is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Day Habilitation Program Coordinator. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport volunteers to and from program sites, volunteer job opportunities, and community-based activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist volunteers in achieving success and satisfaction in their personal growth and community-based endeavors, fostering a sense of accomplishment and confidence.
  • Act as a liaison between volunteer job site staff and program volunteers, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide transportation to and from primary site locations, residences, community volunteer jobs, and additional hub site locations, utilizing wheelchair-accessible vehicles as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals with varying levels of ability.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License and a clean driving record, with the ability to remain a qualified driver.
  • AMAP/First Aid/CPR/SCIP-R Training preferred, with a minimum of one year experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Physical Aspects

The role may involve lifting and transferring of adult volunteers, as well as transportation and driving, including wheelchair-accessible vehicles and lockdowns.
