POSITION SUMMARY: The individual in this role is accountable for the precise and prompt handling of clinic work queues, which includes charge assessments, claims editing, and follow-up procedures. This position entails effective communication regarding issues and trends among front office personnel, healthcare providers, clinic management, and the revenue cycle team. The specialist will assist in all clinic workflows that contribute to the submission of accurate claims while minimizing denials related to registration, authorization, and injectable services. Additionally, this role involves the collection and accounting of cash, co-pays, and performing comprehensive cashiering duties for the practice.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Not applicable.
SKILLS:
- In-depth knowledge of all front office operations within a physician practice, including registration, telephone management, and reporting.
- Extensive expertise in registration processes, particularly in resolving missing or incorrect registration and demographic information.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in data entry.
- Strong critical thinking abilities and exceptional customer service skills, including the capacity to manage challenging situations involving patients, staff, and providers.
- Ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment in resolving unusual issues or problems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, operational procedures, and collection processes.
- Capability to identify, assess, and rectify problems is essential.
- Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills are necessary for effective and courteous interactions with patients, physicians, families, insurance representatives, and all levels of clinical staff.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, medical insurance terminology, and medical information is required.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure.
- Strong understanding of practice management software and superior customer service skills are essential.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in medical front office operations, registration, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems is required. Experience with Epic and payer portals is preferred.
