Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for working with patients to arrange and schedule referral appointments, and act as a liaison with insurance companies and specialist offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process referrals from providers in a timely manner, prioritizing the referrals according to defined levels of urgency, scheduling appointments as necessary and communicating referral information to patients
  • Ensures that patients have the information and may provide information to patient caretakers in accordance with HIPAA
  • Regularly assists patients by answering questions and resolving issues
  • Works with patients and insurance providers to gather and verify insurance information
  • Provides general administrative and clerical support to clinic
Requirements
  • Ability to provide high quality patient centered customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively with care providers and insurance companies
  • Effectively manage stress
  • Accurately perform detailed work, (i.e. plan, multitask, organize and prioritize work)
  • Establish good employee relations including conflict resolution
  • Intermediate computer skills - use of computer applications for Health Information systems, EMR, word processing and spreadsheets
  • Discern and maintains confidentiality (i.e. HIPAA, proprietary information, etc.)
  • Works as part of a team; model a positive work ethic and customer friendly relations
