Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Role Overview:
The Diagnostic Medical and Vascular Sonographer, under general supervision, conducts various Sonography and Vascular Sonography procedures following departmental protocols. This role involves performing ultrasound procedures on patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics, and assisting physicians during interventional procedures. The sonographer selects appropriate applications and technical parameters, is knowledgeable about departmental processes, and takes responsibility for specific areas or procedures. Participation in the AdventHealth performance improvement program is expected, along with adherence to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable regulations. A commitment to outstanding customer service and maintaining respectful relationships is essential.

- Consistently achieves the highest quality scans tailored to patient body types and preparation status, as evaluated by Radiologists, Ultrasound Educators, and Ultrasound Managers. Adheres to exam protocols outlined in the department's Policy and Procedure manual.
- Demonstrates a desire for continuous learning and skill enhancement. Stays updated with new procedures and assists in training less experienced staff.
- Completes examinations promptly, accurately assesses patient preparation status, and schedules exams accordingly. Communicates abnormal findings to the interpreting physicians and maintains a professional rapport with all clients. Engages with patients and their families in a manner appropriate to their age and understanding.
- Diligently documents, completes, and charges procedures to uphold the quality standards established by the department and hospital. Follows all AdventHealth policies and departmental procedures.
- Executes a comprehensive range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operates all ultrasound equipment within the assigned department. Rotates among various campuses/US departments as necessary. Adapts to new technologies and protocols while contributing to the knowledge and skill development of colleagues and students. Utilizes expertise to provide care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Qualifications for Success:
- Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program
- Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in the following specialties:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Abdomen (AB)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) – Vascular (VT)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field
