GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Specialist is responsible for conducting high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and standards. This role involves assisting medical professionals during interventional procedures, including but not limited to transesophageal and stress echocardiograms. The specialist is expected to possess comprehensive knowledge of departmental processes and actively contribute to a culture of exceptional customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Exemplifies AdventHealth's core values of quality, service excellence, community wellbeing, ethical standards, stewardship, and inclusiveness.
- Utilizes expertise in age-specific factors to perform safe and effective procedures on patients across all age groups.
- Conducts both routine and complex ultrasound studies while assisting with various imaging procedures.
- Maintains high standards of scan quality, adhering to departmental protocols and ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Demonstrates accountability by completing examinations promptly and efficiently, while coordinating patient throughput.
- Communicates effectively with multidisciplinary teams and informs physicians of any abnormal findings.
- Maintains accurate documentation and ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Participates in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge of new technologies.
- Contributes to a collaborative team environment and supports departmental goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Sonography or equivalent.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and one of the following: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
- Ability to perform a comprehensive range of diagnostic echocardiogram and vascular ultrasound procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients.
This position is integral to the success of AdventHealth Central Florida, ensuring high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall mission of the organization.
