Position Highlights:

Avera Brain and Spine Institute offers specialized care for critically ill or injured patients with neurological disorders. This challenging and diverse role provides a rewarding environment for nurses looking to expand their skills and expertise.

The Brain & Spine and Neurocritical Care units cater to patients with varying levels of acuity across the neurological spectrum. This unique setting allows team members to work with diverse patient populations, gaining experience in medical-surgical, acute, and critical care—all within one department.

  • Student Loan Repayment: This Registered Nurse (RN) position qualifies for Avera's Student Loan Repayment Program, assisting you in paying off your loans more efficiently. Each month, an additional payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera will help reduce your principal balance.

Job Summary

The Nursing Department at Avera McKennan expects all nurses to deliver competent nursing care and exhibit professionalism in their role as an RN. The American Nurses Association (ANA) scope and standards of practice are integral to this position. The Registered Nurse is accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide care for patients, taking responsibility for their actions and the outcomes of care delivered during their shifts.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Graduation from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is highly preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota or meet multi-state licensure requirements.
  • Completion of life-saving education specific to the specialty area is strongly encouraged.
  • Specialty certification is preferred.

Work Schedule:

  • Hours: 7a-7:30p, 7p-7:30a
  • Requires immediate every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation. Every other weekend rotation may be arranged if desired.
  • Additional elective incentive options include premiums for straight weekends and/or night shifts.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is detailed below. Actual hourly rate will be based on experience.

  • $46.50 per hour
