Job Summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) is in search of an Environmental Compliance Project Manager who possesses a strong background in managing and executing remediation initiatives, site evaluations, and comprehensive environmental assessments. Our consultants serve as the primary representatives of the firm, fostering and nurturing significant relationships with clients and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct environmental compliance projects, including standard or tailored Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM standards.
  • Draft and submit reports evaluating potential environmental liability risks.
  • Plan, direct, and execute Phase II ESAs, encompassing fieldwork and sampling procedures.
  • Oversee multiple projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeline expectations while maintaining high-quality standards for all deliverables.
  • Engage in effective communication with clients, team members, and external vendors.
  • Collaborate on Brownfield Redevelopment projects and engage with other departments on remediation and environmental compliance initiatives.
Physical Requirements

Common office activities include sitting, standing, walking, utilizing a personal computer, and verbal communication. Most tasks are performed indoors, with occasional visits to project sites. The role may require lifting up to 50 pounds, outdoor maneuvering, and the use of sampling tools. A valid driver's license is necessary for traveling to project sites and meeting clients. Visual acuity is essential for performing job responsibilities.

Education and Licensure

A Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, or a related discipline is preferred.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance projects, with a proven track record of managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience in conducting Phase I and II ESAs in compliance with ASTM standards.
  • Familiarity with fundamental business practices and legal principles related to business transactions.
  • Working knowledge of Michigan's environmental regulations and requirements; experience with federal programs and regulations from other states is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in preparing technical reports.
  • Awareness of potential grant and funding opportunities for redevelopment initiatives.
  • State of Michigan accredited Asbestos Building Inspector certification or experience in identifying, sampling, and inspecting asbestos materials is a plus.
