Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC and Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Laurel School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all HVAC and electrical systems, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair all HVAC equipment, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all HVAC and electrical systems, including oiling and greasing motors, pumps, and air handling equipment
  • Install, assemble, and repair pumps, condensers, motors, and other refrigerating equipment
  • Check, evaluate, and charge refrigerant as needed
  • Repair and replace electrical fixtures and equipment, including wiring systems, P.A. systems, electronic clocks, fans, and lights
  • Design, fabricate, and install new electrical service as needed
  • Upgrade antiquated circuits and runs that are not within specifications/limitations of the NFPA Electrical Codes
  • Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance and support the Laurel School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Mississippi driver's license
  • Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the electrical trade, local and national electrical codes, and hazards and safety precautions peculiar to the trade
  • Knowledge of fluorescent and incandescent lighting systems
  • Ability to make accurate estimates of time and materials for required projects
  • Ability to work from blueprints and specifications
  • Ability to prepare and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Skilled in locating and adjusting defects in electrical systems and equipment
  • Skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment of the electrical trade
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to electrical and mechanical systems. The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces is required. The Laurel School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
