Department of Medicine

The Department of Medicine at UC Irvine is a leading institution in the field of medicine, with 11 divisions and over 300 employees. Our mission is to deliver accessible, patient-centered healthcare of the highest caliber while training compassionate, visionary, and innovative clinicians and researchers.

We develop, teach, and practice state-of-the-art, evidence-based medicine that holds the promise of a better future for the people of California and beyond. Our attending physicians oversee the infectious diseases patient population, ensuring that patients receive maximum therapy and appropriate drugs, and evaluating their overall progress.

Our physicians must also follow the Department of Medicine's policies and procedures, which include charting all interactions with patients in compliance with CMS standards and maintaining accurate medical records.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Required
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Diseases
  • Current, unrestricted California Medical License
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Diseases
  • Current DEA License
  • Current ACLS Certificate
Special Conditions
  • Must remain in good standing with the Department of Medicine, adhering to UC and Departmental policies and procedures
  • Submit encounter forms or dictations on date of service
  • Complete the online CBT requirements by the deadline
  • Do not appear on the Medical Staff Delinquency List
  • Evaluations for medical students, residents, fellows to be submitted within a week of the end of the training encounter, as applicable
  • Routine maintenance of your UCI email account, checking and responding
