Executive Chef I Job Summary

Chartwells K12 is seeking an experienced Executive Chef I to oversee kitchen operations for a K-12 School District. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment, preparing and directing meal preparation, and training kitchen staff in food preparation and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement regular and modified menus according to established guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized recipes, portioning, and presentation standards.
  • Complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste log sheets.
  • Train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, and operation of equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of food and non-food supplies within established guidelines.
  • Make decisions regarding leftover food products while adhering to company guidelines.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A.S. or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three to five years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience.
  • Extensive catering experience a plus.
  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable.
