The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator is a vital role at Children's National Hospital, requiring a skilled professional with expertise in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and clinical research. The successful candidate will work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating expert clinical, organizational, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct, and manage research projects within federal and institutional regulations and policies under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Use research funds and resources appropriately, maintaining confidentiality of data as required.
  • Meet all annual job-related training and compliance requirements.
  • Integrate nursing process with research plan, performing assessments related to overt and subtle patient needs.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in clinical research nursing coordinating NIH and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
  • 5 years of complete human subject research courses.
  • 3 years of recent clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.

Requirements:

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Computer skills, familiarity with MS Word, MS Office, and intranet/internet preferred.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment, including fax machine, printer, and copier.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse in District of Columbia.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible Conduct of Research.
  • Consistently demonstrates adherence to the standards for the responsible conduct of research.
  • Integrate nursing process with research plan.
  • Develop effective communication channels with research team, staff, patients, and families.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Protect patient/family right to confidentiality in relation to research protocol.
  • Act as a role model for other professionals by communicating responsively, respectfully, and assertively.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals throughout all phases of the research process.
