Role Overview
As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in developing a robust portfolio of business while mentoring and guiding junior underwriters and underwriting assistants. Your primary focus will be on evaluating and underwriting a substantial book of business valued between $25-40 million in Commercial Lines. This includes assessing risk acceptability, establishing pricing strategies, adhering to underwriting guidelines, and cultivating strong relationships with agencies in your designated territories.

Key Responsibilities
The essential duties of this position include:

  • Underwriting a GWP portfolio of $25-40 million.
  • Assisting in the oversight of underwriting functions.
  • Collaborating with various business units (Claims, Compliance, Operations) to enhance project prioritization and operational efficiencies.
  • Leading and developing a team of underwriters and underwriting assistants.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in commercial insurance.
  • Professional insurance designations are advantageous.
  • Previous management and leadership experience.
