Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment to prevent wear and tear.
  • Install and repair electrical wiring and components on machinery and equipment.
  • Lay out, assemble, and install pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Repair and maintain physical condition of facilities, including fabrication and repair of counters, benches, walls, and partitions.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, grinders, and drills, to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to fill out routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively and convey information to other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical equipment. The employee often works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and cleaning chemicals. Personal protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn per company policies.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection may be required with some jobs.
