Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role within the capital accounting team, overseeing essential monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting functions. This includes the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with SOX controls and audit support. Reporting directly to the Manager of Corporate Accounting - Capital, this position is vital for the timely capitalization of capital projects, including SAAS, internal-use software, and fixed assets, in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project requests for PPE, SAAS, and internal-use software to determine the correct accounting treatment.
  • Evaluate capital purchase requests to ensure compliance.
  • Manage capital projects in SAP throughout their lifecycle.
  • Engage with project owners to ensure accurate tracking of capital projects and provide guidance on accounting principles as necessary.
  • Conduct capitalized labor calculations per ASC 350-40, with a focus on software capitalization stages and activities.
  • Prepare journal entries using SAP.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including placing assets in service, managing depreciation inputs, and handling disposals.
  • Perform monthly fluctuation analyses.
  • Reconcile fixed asset sub-ledgers with the general ledger and prepare fixed asset roll forwards.
  • Address reporting and audit requests, including SEC reporting, tax inquiries, and audit documentation.
  • Execute quarterly capital accrual procedures and assess cut-off timing.
  • Support FP&A partners in accurately tracking, reporting, and forecasting capital expenditures and depreciation.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests as needed.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; MBA or MSA preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in public accounting and/or corporate roles at SEC-registered entities, with a focus on fixed asset accounting preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in MS Windows and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication and analytical abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative team player.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standard office environment; may require prolonged periods of sitting.
