M.C. Dean, Inc. specializes in electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, and commissioning services for critical facilities, secure environments, commercial and industrial clients, and electrical contractors. The company's capabilities include emergency response, engineering services, and comprehensive installation and repair.
In this role, you will lead and execute inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and start-up of low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems, including breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, and motor control centers, as well as other electrical apparatus both in the field and in a workshop environment. A solid understanding of advanced electrical distribution systems and the utilization of complex electrical testing equipment is essential. You will contribute to a safe working environment for colleagues and clients and help ensure the overall success of projects. Local, regional, and national travel is required; the ability to travel internationally is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Testing and Commissioning:
- Conduct acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical power distribution systems and equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
- Perform insulation resistance testing, power factor testing, contact resistance testing, and other assessments in accordance with NETA standards.
- Evaluate test results to ascertain the condition of equipment and suggest corrective measures if necessary.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems, including experience with transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
- Exhibit proficiency in using electrical testing instruments such as insulation resistance testers, power factor meters, contact resistance testers, and relay test sets.
- Possess knowledge of NETA standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety regulations.
- Coordinate, lead, and support multiple projects both onsite and in-house utilizing various company software systems, reviewing and maintaining job documentation to ensure completeness of information from order receipt to invoicing.
- Test low and medium voltage cables, instrument and power transformers, switchgear, breakers, electro-mechanical and solid-state relays, and other electrical apparatus.
- Manage material costs by eliminating wasteful practices and implementing effective control measures.
- Participate in emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
- 7 years of experience with a High School Diploma/GED.
- Experience in Electronics Installation and/or Maintenance on Multiple Systems.
- Ability to interpret trade drawings, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and civil, to identify potential design and installation issues.
- Familiarity with industry standards including sections of NETA ATS/MTS, NEC, NFPA 70E, etc.
- One or more of the following Preferred:
- OEM certified field service training program.
- Certifications (desired/advantageous): NETA level III, or IV preferred.

- Ability to lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
- Capability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
- Comfortable working at various heights up to 60 feet and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
- Engage in walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
- Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
- Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong without necessarily solving the problem.
- Apply general rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers.
- Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding relationships among seemingly unrelated events).
