Role Overview

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Structural Loads Engineer II, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the next generation of rocket engines and propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute propulsion system loads analysis, ensuring cross-discipline interactions and accurate analysis inputs/assumptions.
  • Document and communicate loads results to internal, government, and commercial customers.
  • Create and refine finite element models, validating and correlating them to modal tests.
  • Apply component modal synthesis methods, such as Craig-Bampton, to reduce finite element models.
  • Design and develop general loads for propulsion systems.
  • Perform other low and high frequency loads tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering.
  • Passion for propulsion system structural loads.
  • 2+ years of experience in predicting and validating low frequency loads.
  • Finite element modeling experience.
  • NASTRAN and MATLAB proficiency.
  • Ability to solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience solving complex structural static/dynamic problems using analysis and hands-on laboratory testing.
  • Rocket engine, spacecraft, or launch vehicle loads experience.
  • Proficiency in commercial software tools, including HYPERMESH, ANSYS, NASTRAN DMAP, ATA's iMAT, PYTHON, and FORTRAN.
  • Experience with time domain, frequency domain, and random vibration statistical analysis.
Compensation and Benefits

Competitive compensation range: $89,820.00-$125,748.00. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
