Engineer III - Structural Loads

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Structural Loads Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the next generation of engines and propulsion systems for our spacecraft and launch vehicles.

This role is part of our Engines business unit, where we're focused on creating innovative solutions for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight applications. As a member of our team, you'll work closely with cross-functional groups to develop and qualify new rocket engines and thrusters, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop system-level finite element models and integrate them with other engineering disciplines to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Use test data to develop forcing functions and predict static and low-frequency loads throughout the propulsion system.
  • Work closely with customers to deliver system loads and environments on time and with accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop and implement new technologies and processes that improve our design and development capabilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural analysis, with a focus on low-frequency structural dynamics and loads.
  • Proficiency in finite element modeling and analysis tools, such as NASTRAN and MATLAB.
  • Ability to solve complex structural problems using physics-based analytical methods.
  • Experience with time domain, frequency domain, and random vibration statistical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with spacecraft and launch vehicle loads.
  • Proficiency in commercial software tools, such as HYPERMESH, ANSYS, and NASTRAN DMAP.
  • Finite element model reduction and integration using Component Mode Synthesis.
  • Experience with modal testing, correlation, and model tuning.

Blue Origin offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $111,690-$148,920, depending on location.
