Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Loads Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Engines business unit, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of our next-generation rocket engines and propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and anchor system and component loads for various spaceflight systems
  • Provide high-quality engineering support for the development and qualification of new rocket engines and thrusters
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy in inputs, forcing function generation, loads analysis, and verification
  • Develop and integrate system-level finite element models, and validate using analytical or test methods
  • Use sensor data to verify system loads from ground/flight testing
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in structural analysis, with at least 8 years in prediction/validation of low-frequency loads
  • Finite Element Modeling experience
  • NASTRAN and MATLAB proficiency
  • Ability to solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods
  • Experience with time domain, frequency domain, and random vibration statistical analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spacecraft and launch vehicle loads experience
  • Experience with commercial software tools such as HYPERMESH, ANSYS, NASTRAN DMAP, and MATLAB
  • Finite Element Model reduction and integration using Component Mode Synthesis
  • Experience with modal testing, correlation, and model tuning
