Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team at Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and maintenance of all financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Record Management: Prepare and oversee the preparation of all financial, statistical, and accounting records of the credit union, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Department Leadership: Oversee and evaluate current products and procedures, implementing changes as needed to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with the ES/IT department to coordinate processing needs and assist with the creation of new data processing systems, and collaborate with auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits.
  • Team Management: Hire, train, direct, and evaluate employee performance within the department, recommending promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments as needed.
Performance Metrics
  • Deadline Management: Ensure the department meets all deadlines with respect to settlement activities, with minimal errors and no errors that result in losses to the credit union.
  • Financial Accuracy: Ensure that the credit union's books and general ledger accounts are always in balance and current.
  • Staff Development: Maintain a cohesive, highly trained, and motivated staff, sufficient to meet daily accounting demands.
  • Cost Efficiency: Develop recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancements to products, pricing, and processes by monitoring trends in operations and deposit services.
  • Committee Participation: Actively attend and participate in committee meetings and events.
  • ALM Model Management: Report ALM Model assumptions/projections to ALCO and make recommendations.
  • Training and Validation: Coordinate annual ALCO training and ensure ALM Model back testing/validation is performed.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Functional with spreadsheets and word processing software.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature, requiring the ability to motivate, influence, or train others.
  • Education: Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).
  • Experience: Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
