$64,823 - $70,000 annual salary
NATURE OF WORK
The Management Analyst I engages in analytical functions to support departmental leadership in addressing budgetary, administrative, and operational challenges.
This position encompasses formulating recommendations, drafting reports, assessing and pinpointing opportunities for process enhancements within enterprise information systems, and aiding in strategic planning initiatives.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Budget and Expenditure Oversight:
Evaluate, monitor, and oversee budgets and expenditures related to programs, projects, grants, and departmental operations.
Prepare and review personnel actions, agenda items, budget modifications, accounting tasks, and other administrative duties to ensure adherence to City policies.
Process Enhancement:
Cultivate relationships with various departments to identify and rectify issues, propose enhancements, and execute special projects based on findings. Conduct research, compile, summarize, and analyze data for special projects and planning purposes. Document and present findings to management and other entities.
Operational Evaluation:
Investigate and assess operations, workflows, and quality of work. Provide statistical evaluations of departmental practices and methodologies. Conduct various tests, troubleshoot issues, identify areas of concern, and communicate effective implementation strategies.
Strategic Assistance:
Aid in the formulation of strategic plans for diverse City departments. Research funding possibilities, develop grant applications, revise budgets, and provide analytical support for departmental functions.
Procurement Management:
Facilitate the assessment and acquisition of services, capital assets, and equipment. Develop, draft, and verify specifications for new or existing vehicle and vendor bids. Research cost-effective products and services, and prepare and recommend contracts with suitable vendors.
Systems Management:
Act as the systems administrator for maintenance information system software, overseeing system upkeep, upgrades, user training, and workflow.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF WORK
Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's (Preferred) Degree in Public or Business Administration, Data Management, Accounting, Economics, Management of Information Systems, or a related discipline.
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in fiscal, administrative, operations, or management analysis. One year of experience in the public sector is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of budget oversight, administrative functions, and strategic planning. Effective research methodologies and data analysis. Business process evaluation and business intelligence techniques. Customer service and problem resolution. Occupational and environmental safety and health hazards.
Skills in:
Reading, understanding, and applying relevant rules, ordinances, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures. Managing assignments effectively and responding to inquiries promptly. Working independently or collaboratively. Preparing and presenting various reports and documents. Operating a personal computer with relevant software. Effective interpersonal communication and conflict resolution.
Ability to:
Perform a variety of tasks and prioritize duties to meet deadlines. Ensure appropriate levels of customer service. Collect and maintain accurate information and records. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. Safely and effectively operate relevant tools and equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMAND Light Physical Demands:
Primarily involves desk work with extended periods of sitting.
Lifting and Carrying:
Occasional lifting and carrying of files, documents, and reports weighing up to 20 pounds.
Manual Dexterity:
Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a personal computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
Visual Acuity:
Must have adequate visual acuity to read and interpret data on computer screens and paper documents.
Mobility:
Ability to move within the office to access files, office equipment, and interact with colleagues.
Communication:
Regularly required to talk and hear in order to communicate effectively with colleagues, management, and external parties.
Travel:
May involve occasional travel to meetings, conferences, or other City departments.
Remote Work:
Remote work may be available on an approval basis, subject to management discretion and departmental needs. Employees working from home must have a suitable workspace and reliable internet connection to perform their duties effectively.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in a standard office setting, involving prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
