Qualifications:

Education:
High School Diploma or GED, Required. Bachelor's Degree, Preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of relevant phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Certification by ASCP, ASPT, AMT, or NHA (new hires must obtain certification within 6 months of employment), Required.


Additional Skills Required:
New hires must achieve certification within 6 months of employment.

Familiarity with current medical terminology to perform a comprehensive range of laboratory tasks. Ability to communicate effectively with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.

Proficient in anticipating and calmly responding to emergency situations. Skilled in developing and maintaining departmental quality assurance. Capable of establishing and nurturing effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital personnel, and the public. Ability to adhere to written protocols. Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.

In certain facilities, the team member may receive training for specific tasks in Anatomic Pathology.

The team member may assist in the preparation of body tissue specimens, such as frozen sections or touch prep slides for examination by a pathologist, aimed at diagnosing bodily dysfunction and malignancy.

This includes the preparation of human-origin tissue specimens for diagnostic or educational purposes and all associated tasks, including but not limited to, tissue cutting, slide preparation, staining, and maintaining stains and work areas.
