Solar & BESS Technician Associate Job Description

RWE Clean Energy, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Solar & BESS Technician Associate to join our team. As a key member of our operations and maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our solar and energy storage facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain the availability of our solar and energy storage farms, ensuring mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed as needed to meet safety and operating targets.
  • Execute a daily scheduling philosophy, prioritizing tasks to maximize generation and ensure proactive work is completed.
  • Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV and battery storage electrical equipment, ensuring all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and in accordance with site operating procedures.
  • Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements, identifying gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment.
  • Assist with balance of plant and switchyard work as required, performing maintenance on BESS, trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Lead.
  • Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions are taken where necessary.
  • Document all work and generate reports as required, ensuring site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed in accordance with site protocols.
Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with some renewable energy experience, preferably solar.
  • Associate degree in engineering or related Science from an accredited school (other than correspondence or internet) preferred.
  • Must be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, substations maintenance, power plant safety protocols.
  • Must have a valid state Driver's License in good standing with no restrictions.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools, environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines, travel to and from job sites as assigned, and work independently and as part of a team.
