About the Role

RWE Clean Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Solar & Energy Storage Technician Associate. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a strong background in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the availability of the Solar & Energy Storage farm and ensure mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed when necessary to maintain established safety and operating targets.
  • Execute a daily scheduling philosophy utilizing a prioritized list of work provided by planning, focusing on maximizing generation and ensuring proactive work is prioritized and completed.
  • Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV & battery storage electrical equipment.
  • Ensure that all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures established for Storage/Solar PV sites.
  • Proactively look for improvement opportunities for job-appropriate processes and procedures.
  • Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements.
  • Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required.
  • Perform maintenance on BESS, trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Lead.
  • Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate.
  • Perform current and voltage readings as necessary.
  • Document all work and generate reports as necessary.
  • Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment.
  • At times, may assist with BOP activities.
  • Use available tools to monitor energy output and respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Ensure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocols.
  • Interface with any 3rd party contractors working at our facilities.
  • Available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, resolution of O&M issues.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Preference will be given to the candidate with some renewable energy experience, preferably solar.
  • Associate degree in engineering or related Science from an accredited school (other than correspondence or internet) preferred.
  • Must be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, substations maintenance, power plant safety protocols.
  • Must have a valid state Driver's License in good standing with no restrictions.
  • Must be able to relocate within 1-hour of site.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.
  • Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequent oral and written communications.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe.
  • First aid/CPR/AED.
  • OSHA Certified.
Work Environment

This position is a combined field- and office-based role involving travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
