Job Summary:

Sirna & Sons Produce is a fourth-generation, family-run, wholesale food distributor seeking a skilled Transportation Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our logistics department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of our products to customers across Ohio, Central Pennsylvania, and Northern West Virginia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct transportation department training and driver evaluations to ensure compliance with safety and company standards
  • Perform regular safety audits of our fleet and communicate findings to the Transportation Supervisor
  • Review driver pre-trip truck inspections and log serious issues for immediate attention
  • Oversee the milk crate recovery inventory control program and enforce compliance
  • Drive a truck to support delivery drivers as needed for runbacks, call-offs, or driver assistance
  • Route trucks efficiently and adjust according to volume on assigned days
  • Enforce Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) safety regulations and ensure compliance
  • Verify product for high-priority TLC accounts and special situations
  • Communicate effectively with departments as needed and handle multiple tasks with prioritization
  • Assist Transportation Department roles as needed and follow handling and reporting procedures for allergens
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety procedures
  • Perform other responsibilities, duties, and projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associate's degree in Logistics or a related field preferred
  • Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and common e-mail systems
  • Experience in the food distribution industry is a plus; no CDL certification required, but box truck experience is preferred
  • Ability to drive a truck to support delivery drivers as needed and knowledge of all delivery locations
  • Successfully pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical

Physical Demands:

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work in cold and wet cooler environments for extended periods
  • Delivery driver on route all day, working outdoors, will be faced with seasonal changes
  • Regularly enter and exit vehicle, pull down ramp, and push/lift product for delivery on customer premises

Compensation:

  • Starting Pay $18.00/hour
