About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Authorization Specialist to join our team at Hancock Regional Hospital. This critical role plays a vital part in the Network Navigation department, serving as a resource for both the Authorization Advocate and patients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving complex pre-certification, authorization, and referral needs. They will work closely with physicians, physician offices, insurance companies, and the Authorization Advocates to answer patient questions and resolve issues. Additionally, this role will serve as back-up when the Authorization Advocates have scheduling issues or an influx of patients requiring their referrals processed or pre-certifications checked before scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Resolving complex pre-certification, authorization, and referral needs.
  • Working with physicians, physician offices, insurance companies, and the Authorization Advocates to answer patient questions and resolve issues.
  • Serving as back-up for the Authorization Advocates during scheduling issues or high patient volumes.
Requirements
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills to manage responsibilities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail, with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); experience with Meditech preferred but not required.
  • Able to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
