Position Overview:

Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is actively seeking a full-time Vehicle Maintenance Specialist to oversee fleet maintenance operations. This technical and skilled role involves inspecting, servicing, and repairing company-owned vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment, both in the maintenance facility and on-site. The ideal candidate will possess experience in servicing and conducting maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles, ensuring all tasks are performed safely, efficiently, and with a focus on quality and client satisfaction. Adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve malfunctions, performing repairs according to manufacturer specifications for engines, transmissions, clutches, suspension, steering, fuel systems (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems, including emergency roadside repairs.
  • Conduct necessary inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles to enhance safety, productivity, and longevity.
  • Execute repairs on vehicles and equipment within the maintenance facility and in the field as required.
  • Safely address vehicles that have experienced breakdowns on the road, ensuring a prompt return to operational status.
  • Oversee the scheduling and execution of routine service maintenance for the fleet.
  • Optimize work scheduling to maximize productivity and meet deadlines.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely and maintain them to extend their useful life.
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols, reporting unsafe conditions and incidents immediately, while demonstrating safe practices at all times.
  • Operate company-owned vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with technicians during adverse weather conditions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather and environmental conditions, including high-traffic scenarios.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and communicate effectively.
  • Frequently required to use hands for handling, feeling, and reaching.
  • Capable of ascending and descending structures to perform job duties.
  • Ability to work safely in high-traffic zones.
  • Adaptability to varying environmental and weather conditions (i.e., working in hot, cold, or wet conditions for extended periods).
  • Capacity to stand for prolonged periods while operating equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with hydraulic systems is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (reading/writing) is preferred but not mandatory.
Additional Requirements:
  • Clean driving record is essential.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
Educational Background:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Vocational or Technical certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in:
    • Roadway equipment repair and maintenance.
    • Vehicle and small engine repair and maintenance.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (speak, read, write).
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Compliance with company standards for background checks (criminal record, driving record, and substance testing).
  • Familiarity with local driving regulations.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions.
  • Maintain appropriate safety equipment for each task.
  • Present a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Adaptability to new technologies.
  • Proficiency in using smartphones and applications.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing work schedules and multitask effectively.
Work Schedule:
  • Full-time; Monday to Friday, with on-call duties as needed.
  • Availability to work during adverse weather conditions.
