Job Overview:

OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
This is a nonexempt role responsible for a range of tasks based on departmental requirements.

The position will be allocated according to practice demands and will alternate between front desk responsibilities and clinical support based on daily assessments.


Primary Responsibilities of Front Desk Coordinator:
Delivering reception services, managing appointment scheduling, facilitating patient check-in and check-out, handling telephone inquiries, and providing other patient-related assistance.

Primary Responsibilities of Medical Assistant:
Supporting healthcare providers with patient care and managing clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

General:
Possessing adaptable knowledge and communication skills to fulfill assigned duties.
Proficient computer skills and the ability to perform tasks as required by department assignments.
Additional responsibilities as needed.

Front Desk Duties:
1. Appointment scheduling and insurance verification. Processing preauthorizations and precertifications.
2. Demonstrating proficiency in telephone communication and customer service skills.
Clinical Duties:
1. Assisting healthcare providers during patient consultations, effectively communicating with physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Medical assistant certification or diploma required.

If Registered, valid registration:
Minimum of two years of experience in healthcare, with preference for experience in relevant practices.

Other Skills:
Familiarity with EMR systems (ECW experience preferred but not mandatory).

Knowledge:
Understanding of basic medical terminology and organizational services. Awareness of individual responsibilities for accurately directing inquiries. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards concerning patient information.

Awareness of organizational policies and procedures:
Skills:
Excellent communication abilities and attention to detail. Capable of interacting with administration, healthcare providers, and other departmental personnel on a daily basis. Proficient in computer usage. Skilled in operating a multi-line phone system, including call transfers and paging.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism at all times. Capable of understanding patient education needs by effectively conveying information to patients and their families.

Maintaining clinical knowledge and medical assistance skills.

Abilities:
Ability to gather necessary information to accurately direct patients.

Ability to de-escalate situations with upset callers and patients by collaborating with them to identify concerns and develop solutions.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and organize work for efficient completion. Punctuality and availability for daily assigned responsibilities. Ability to learn and retain information related to patient care procedures. Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute delegated tasks. Ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion in interactions with others.
