Cost Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Estimator to join our team at Select Industries Corp. As a Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate and competitive manufacturing quotes to customers, increasing sales and reducing quoting response time.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the technical representative for assigned quoting processes;
- Make independent and collaborative decisions to ensure accurate estimates for internal and external processes;
- Conduct brainstorming sessions with engineering personnel to identify low-cost solutions for raw materials, special subcontracted processes, and internal manufacturing processes;
- Identify and generate RFQs for materials and subcontracted special processes consistent with current buying practices;
- Develop estimated manufacturing processes based on knowledge of manufacturing processes within the company and its supply base;
- Maintain a tracking system for open quotes to ensure timely delivery of quotes between Sales and Purchasing departments;
- Input data into the quote module for documenting material costs, subcontract costs, manufacturing operations, tooling, notes, etc.;
- Forward RFQ activity for materials and subcontract requirements through the Purchasing group;
- Estimate production times, tooling costs, and equipment costs required for punch press for automotive and CNC machining for aerospace;
- Interface with suppliers and vendors for clarification of drawing and customer requirements;
- Interface with customers for clarification of process requirements;
- Maximize opportunities on quote packages where combining and grouping of requirements results in lower quoted costs;
- Identify and request engineering data (drawings, specs, parts lists, etc.) as required to support quote activity;
- Perform quoting activities by existing procedures, management direction, and work instructions;
- Evaluate existing procedures for potential streamlining of quote activities and waste reduction;
- Support sales in a technical capacity during price negotiations with customers;
- Develop processes and tooling requirements for government SARS packages;
- Coordinate, buy-in, and acceptance of processes with Manufacturing Engineering before submittal to sales for final pricing;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of five years (5 years) experience in Cost Engineering, Cost Estimating, Estimating Engineer;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex CNC machining processes and press stamping, including BOTH Aerospace and Automotive;
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; mechanical, or other related engineering field;
- Knowledge and experience of Solidworks and ERP systems;
- Excellent communication and organizational skills;
- Experience with GE, P&W, and RR is a definite plus;
- Working knowledge of Windows applications (Word, Excel, and Project) and basic keyboarding ability;
- Must be able to work independently;
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, welding, injection molding, outside processes, etc.);
- Strong understanding of materials pricing, labor costs, and overhead allocation.

Company lifting limitations will be enforced. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Incumbents will be required to utilize various methods of transportation while traveling to customer sites, etc.
