Job Summary:

As a Clinical Operations Manager at Advocate Health, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating standards of nursing practice to ensure quality care across multiple outpatient departments. You will maintain efficient and effective departmental operations, ensuring that work schedules are planned, implemented, and monitored according to policy. Additionally, you will ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment, facilitate smooth coordination of department services with other departments, and participate in case management activities to facilitate quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develops and implements standards of nursing practice to ensure quality care across multiple outpatient departments.
• Maintains efficient and effective departmental operations, ensuring that work schedules are planned, implemented, and monitored according to policy.
• Ensures the availability of necessary supplies and equipment, and facilitates smooth coordination of department services with other departments.
• Participates in case management activities to facilitate quality patient outcomes, and collaborates with team coordinator and team members to identify and resolve issues that affect patients and the care team.
• Prepares, administers, and monitors departmental budgets to ensure personnel, facilities, and materials are at desired levels.
• Determines appropriate operating expense budget, monitors expenses, adjusts staffing to meet budget requirements, and monitors productivity of staff to assure budgetary compliance.
• Provides a safe environment for patients and staff, monitors and assesses department safety, reviews policy and procedures for clinical competency, and maintains infection control, regulatory, OSHA, and DNV guidelines.
• Develops staffing plans and schedules to ensure appropriate staffing, interviews and hires new staff, assesses acuity and complexity of patients to determine appropriate staffing levels, and monitors productivity and overtime.
• Participates in the development of staff to ensure competency, provides orientation of new staff, conducts timely performance evaluations, provides coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions as appropriate, and terminates employees with approval of Director and HR.
• Fosters team building, peer support, and respect, collaborates with physicians, staff, and other health team members to ensure delivery of quality care, fosters an atmosphere of empowerment, supports effective decision making, and supports staff through change by role modeling behaviors.
• Promotes Continuous Quality Improvement, identifies projects, collects appropriate data, develops corrective action, actively promotes and involves staff in CQI process, and maintains personal and professional growth and development.
