Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine, moderate, and highly complex laboratory diagnostic tests
  • Confirm test results and provide data to physicians for diagnosis and treatment
  • Follow quality control programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Assist with training of new employees and students in laboratory procedures
  • Perform computer functions on laboratory information systems and hospital information systems
  • Participate in continuing education to stay up-to-date in areas of expertise
  • Assist with inventory control
Requirements
  • MLT Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or eligibility by a nationally recognized certification agency
  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of a medical laboratory technician program by a nationally accredited agency
  • 2 years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory setting (preferred)
Working Conditions

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse. May be required to use physical restraints. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. May have periods of constant interruptions.

Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
