About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Stamford Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and report general and/or specialized laboratory tests in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical services and laboratory support information to healthcare professionals.
  • Validate test results in the Laboratory Information System to ensure accurate reports for physician review.
  • Perform quality control for all testing and ensure that results meet established criteria before releasing test results.
  • Recognize factors that may affect measurements and results, and take appropriate action.
  • Report low supply inventory to appropriate staff and ensure uninterrupted testing by informing personnel when supplies fall below par level.
  • Recognize instrument or equipment failures and evaluate problems, taking appropriate action to troubleshoot or contact internal or external individuals for corrective action.
  • Prepare samples appropriately for testing, and maintain glassware and other materials necessary for the performance of clinical laboratory tests.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific field.
  • ASCP registry or equivalent registry (AMT, NCA, or CLS).
  • Requires knowledge of principles and practices of laboratory science and minimal computer skills.
  • May require an FBI check prior to beginning employment.
