Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Multimodal Street Designer to join our team at the City of Austin. As a key member of our Active Transportation and Street Design Division, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering multimodal street design projects that promote a better connected, safer, and more comfortable transportation network for our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver multimodal street design projects that meet the needs of diverse stakeholders and leadership.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement transportation infrastructure projects that achieve complete streets policy goals.
  • Conduct network analysis and feasibility studies to inform transportation planning and design decisions.
  • Develop and review plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation projects.
  • Manage public processes and engage with stakeholders to promote trust, collaboration, and partnership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in transportation engineering or a related field.
  • Excellent team working, problem-solving skills, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the state of the practice in transportation infrastructure design and planning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the design of bicycle, pedestrian, and transit facilities.
  • Familiarity with the NACTO Transit Street Design Guide, NACTO Urban Street Design Guide, and other relevant guides and policies.
  • Excellent team working, problem-solving skills, and communication skills.
