Civil Engineer I/II Position at Toole Design
4 weeks ago
We are seeking a passionate and talented full-time Engineer I/II to join our team at Toole Design Group in Austin, TX. As part of the City of Austin's Active Transportation and Street Design Division (ATSD), you will work on challenging multimodal projects and construction management that make communities more livable and equitable.
This Engineer I/II position with a focus on multimodal roadway design and active transportation earns a competitive salary and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, a health savings account (HSA), and a flexible spending account (FSA). We practice what we preach and ensure that our employees also have access to transportation by providing them with financial incentives to bike, walk, or use transit for a better quality of life.
About Toole Design
Toole Design is the leading engineering, planning, and landscape architecture firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Our talented team of planners, landscape architects, and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race, or gender. As an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm, we have also been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.
A Day in the Life of an Engineer I/II
You will be at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging quick-build projects. Like larger capital projects, which are predominantly constructed with asphalt and concrete materials, quick-build projects are meant to be built quickly using a variety of materials, flexible delivery processes, and funding mechanisms that are developing rapidly. As a member of the augmented staff team, you will support an interdisciplinary team to deliver quick-build multimodal transportation infrastructure projects in a wide range of contexts, from roadway reconfigurations in highly urban settings to full intersection reconstructions to better serve all users.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil/transportation engineering
- 0+ years (Engineer I), 2+ years (Engineer II) of transportation facility design experience, with a demonstrated interest in developing construction documents
- Experience with Computer Automated Design (MicroStation/AutoCad)
- Interest in multimodal and active transportation issues and design (specifically for bicycle, pedestrian, Safe Routes to School, and/or transit integration) for all ages and abilities
- Excellent task and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
What We Offer
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. This position is part of our full-time, on-site staff augmentation contract we have with the City of Austin's Transportation Department.
About Toole Design's Culture
We are a collaborative culture where people of all backgrounds come together to share ideas and build better, more inclusive communities. We encourage those from underrepresented communities - women, people of color, LGBTQIA+, immigrants, those with disabilities, and people at all the intersections in between - to apply. Even if you don't think your current skill set checks every box below, but this role seems to align with your strengths, we want to hear from you.
We're an Equal Opportunity Employer
Toole Design is a woman-owned business and an equal opportunity employer (EO/AA/VEV/Disabled employer). Individuals may request accommodations or assistance with the application process by contacting and asking for Human Resources or emailing.
