Job Summary:

The Sous Chef is a key member of our culinary team, responsible for ensuring the highest quality food service experience for our residents. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food in accordance with our approved menu, property policies, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement culinary procedures to ensure food is prepared and served to the highest standards.
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and delivering meals to meet the dietary needs of our residents.
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met at all times.
  • Supervise and train culinary staff to ensure they are meeting the highest standards of food preparation and service.
  • Assist in menu planning and development to ensure a diverse and appealing menu for our residents.
  • Monitor and control food costs to ensure we are meeting our budgetary requirements.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure efficient and effective food service operations.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Services Director to ensure seamless food service operations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college course or other education in food service and/or management preferred.
  • At least 6 months of experience working in a restaurant or similar environment as a Cook.
  • Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils typically found in facilities serving food.
  • Able to operate a personal computer and be proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Able to work with seniors and patiently interact with cognitively impaired individuals.
  • Able to be flexible, adapt and respond to change, make decisions in stressful situations, and prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Able to process information and apply common sense understanding to follow and carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background check and Health Screening tests, including physical and TB Tests.
