Position Title: Educational Support Specialist
Department: Social Emotional Learning Schools
Reports To: Principal
Compensation: Classified Salary Schedule - Range C
Bargaining Unit: OSEA
FTE: FTE hours per week
Mission Statement: In collaboration with the communities we serve, Northwest Regional ESD enhances student learning by providing equitable access to high-quality services and support.
General Overview: This role involves executing program activities as outlined by licensed personnel and delivering instruction to individual and small groups of students, in alignment with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP). The position also entails supervising student safety and behavior across various environments.
Qualifications: To excel in this position, candidates must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to assist students with mobility needs
- Child Care Central Background Registry Clearance (for Early Learning positions)
- A valid driver's license
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Certificates as required by the District, including CPR certification and training in bloodborne pathogens
- Proficient in computer and internet applications, including email, Google Suites, and word processing software
Essential Functions: The following duties are characteristic of the role:
- Prepare instructional materials under the guidance of a licensed teacher.
- Provide instruction as directed by licensed personnel.
- Assist teachers in supporting students with their assignments.
- Help in grading and documenting student work.
- Maintain data as required by licensed staff.
- Support students with personal needs as advised.
- Ensure student safety and monitor behavior during various activities.
- Participate in required training sessions.
- Uphold confidentiality.
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Collaborate effectively with staff and stakeholders.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Marginal Duties: Additional responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with the cleaning of children's clothing and toys.
- Sanitizing classroom items as necessary.
- Arranging classroom furniture as needed.
