Position Overview:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists by managing the receipt, review, compounding, and dispensing of medications. All tasks are performed under the guidance of a licensed Pharmacist.
This role is eligible for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which offers $3000 in commitment incentives distributed over a two-year timeframe. Payments are issued after six months, one year, and two years of service.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday: 7 AM to 6 PM, Saturday: 9 AM to 3 PM, Closed on Sunday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately receives and transcribes orders from healthcare providers under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring timely processing of prescriptions to meet patient needs.
- Assists in the training of new staff, providing education on job-specific tasks.
- Participates in Medication Therapy Management, Medsync, and other clinical outreach initiatives.
- Selects and prepares medications (oral, topical, controlled substances, etc.) as authorized by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Prepares medications for patient pick-up, delivery, or shipping, and manages returns of unpurchased medications to inventory.
- Addresses patient payment issues (prior authorization, patient assistance, etc.), processes prescription sales, and accurately handles cash and payments.
- Responds to customer inquiries regarding pharmacy services that do not require a pharmacist's professional judgment.
- Operates automated dispensing technology to ensure accurate medication supply according to pharmacist and physician orders.
- Manages inventory by ordering, receiving, restocking, and monitoring expiration dates.
- Contributes to process improvement initiatives.
Additional Information:
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
- CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
