Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Services Technician, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all areas of the facility are kept clean and sanitized, thereby protecting individuals from potential infectious diseases and other hazards.

Success in this position requires a meticulous approach and a strong commitment to safety. Your duties will include routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting, as well as utilizing specialized equipment and techniques to enhance sanitation throughout the facility.

You will be trained in proper disposal methods for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids and sharp objects. Additionally, you will learn to safely handle disinfecting chemicals and understand the procedures for cleaning specialized rooms and equipment. Responsibilities also include restocking supplies such as soap, paper towels, and linens in patient rooms.

Your ability to be friendly and enthusiastic while assisting others will be crucial in this role. You are a vital component of the safety and comfort for our patients, visitors, and staff. A clean environment, coupled with compassionate staff, provides significant comfort and peace of mind to everyone in our care.

  • Perform routine cleaning and organization in designated areas of the facility, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and waste disposal.
  • Sanitize various areas of the hospital using approved tools and procedures, which may differ by location. Patient rooms, emergency departments, and operating rooms will have specific protocols distinct from hallways, nurses' stations, waiting areas, and restrooms.
  • Replenish supplies as necessary in common areas and patient rooms, including soap, paper products, and cleaning supplies.
  • Learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for all medical waste, including biological or biohazardous materials.
  • Maintain a patient, kind, and personable demeanor in all interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
