Job Title: Nutrition Assistant Certifier I

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Nutrition Assistant Certifier I to join our team in King County. This full-time position will work from our WIC sites in Burien and Seattle, providing essential support to our WIC program.

Job Summary:

The Nutrition Assistant Certifier I is responsible for participant enrollment, termination, orientation, and maintaining client files. This role also performs preliminary participant risk assessment, provides basic nutrition education, and identifies referrals for nutrition and other health or community services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date WIC charts, statistical program records, and documentation flow sheets.
  • Interviews clients from diverse populations, reviews client history, and documents anthropometric and laboratory data.
  • Compares information collected to program criteria to determine WIC eligibility and nutrition risk factors.
  • Provides individual and group nutrition education according to program guidelines.
  • Determines appropriate food packages, explains nutrient content of WIC foods, and issues manual or computerized food vouchers.
Requirements:
  • High School or GED diploma.
  • One year previous experience as a WIC receptionist and/or in a WIC program required.
  • Interest and experience in basic nutrition and childhood development desirable.
  • 7-hour course in HIV/AIDS required by State.
  • Medical Assistant-Registered Certification required for Hemoglobin testing.
  • Completion of the Minimum Paraprofessional Competencies within guidelines set in WIC/Nutrition Policies and Procedures.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification required within 90 days of hire date.
