Nutrition Assistant Certifier I Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nutrition Assistant Certifier I to join our team in King County. This full-time position will work from our WIC sites in Burien and Seattle, providing essential support to our clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for WIC participant enrollment, termination, orientation, and providing food benefits. They will also maintain client files, perform preliminary participant risk assessments, and offer basic nutrition education. Additionally, they will identify and make nutrition and other health or community service referrals.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of experience as a WIC receptionist and/or in a WIC program, and a Medical Assistant-Registered Certification for Hemoglobin testing. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in basic nutrition and childhood development, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains complete up-to-date WIC charts and statistical program records.
  • Interviews clients from diverse populations and reviews client history, anthropometric and laboratory data.
  • Provides individual and group nutrition education according to program guidelines.
  • Determines appropriate food packages and explains nutrient content of WIC foods.
  • Issues manual or computerized food vouchers and documents checks issued.

Requirements:

  • High School or GED diploma.
  • One year previous experience as WIC receptionist and/or in WIC program required.
  • Medical Assistant-Registered Certification for Hemoglobin testing.
  • Completion of the Minimum Paraprofessional Competencies within guidelines set in WIC/Nutrition Policies and Procedures.
