SALARY: Min: $31,500 (salary will increase based on experience and degrees/certifications)

Who We Are Looking For

The Education Program is the core of My Possibilities. As an Educational Program Support Specialist, you will have the unique opportunity to assist our HIPsters and make a meaningful difference in their daily lives. In this role, you will support instructors in delivering lessons, facilitating community outings, and stepping in for classes as needed. Your Contribution

This position is vital to our organization's success. By aiding our HIPsters and instructors, you will help create opportunities for this often-overlooked community to experience the joy of learning. Your efforts in teaching skills, enriching the lives of our HIPsters, and advocating for their success will make this role indispensable. You will be instrumental in crafting lifelong memories and joyful experiences for our HIPsters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare instructional materials, visual aids, exhibits, and demonstrations
  • Assist HIPsters individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts
  • Supervise HIPsters in various settings including classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and during community-based instructional activities
  • Support teaching efforts across diverse cognitive levels and provide necessary accommodations
  • Contribute to lesson planning that aligns with educational standards
  • Facilitate and transport participants during community-based instruction outings
  • Track daily attendance and maintain accurate documentation
  • Assist with general program supervision and lunch duties
  • Maintain quality educational records
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Enforce policies and guidelines governing HIPsters
  • Create and sustain an engaging classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Assist instructors in maintaining a clean and organized classroom/workspace

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with adults with special needs
  • Experience managing behaviors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Understanding of instructional methodologies including curriculum-based instruction

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED required (Associate degree preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience as a teaching assistant or paraprofessional preferred

Specific Skills:

  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current car insurance required
  • Clear background check with no offenses that could jeopardize program integrity

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the engagement and safety of HIPsters

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and bend throughout the day
  • Occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs
  • Maintain cleanliness to ensure the safety and dignity of HIPsters
