La Jolla LASIK Institute is seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Assistant to support our medical team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to multitask, and have a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcoming patients, introducing oneself, and guiding them to the appropriate exam area
- Conducting pre-testing on Auto-refractor, Pentacam, and iCare tonometry
- Taking patient history, visual acuities, and checking for ocular dominance
- Answering ophthalmology-related patient calls and triaging patients
- Providing patient education on pre- and post-operative care
- Communicating with pharmacies regarding prescriptions and prior authorizations
- Maintaining daily exam lane stock and adhering to OSHA standards
- Ensuring patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Performing additional testing as needed, such as Visual Field or IOL calculations
- Ability to refract a plus
