Ophthalmic Technician Specialist

Retina Consultants San Diego is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering top-notch medical services.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough medical and ophthalmic history intake, ensuring accurate and comprehensive patient records.
- Perform visual acuity assessments and intraocular pressure measurements using advanced tonometry equipment.
- Administer dilating and anesthetic eye drops as needed, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare patients for imaging and physician exams, ensuring seamless and efficient workflows.
- Assist with ophthalmic procedures, including intraocular injections, under the supervision of our experienced physicians.
- Electronic medical record scribing, allowing you to contribute to the development of our clinical documentation systems.
- Involvement in clinical trials, including certification for best-corrected visual acuity assessment and/or imaging, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Surgery scheduling and coordination, ensuring smooth and efficient patient flow.
- Ophthalmic imaging, including optical coherence tomography, fluorescein angiography, fundus photography, widefield imaging, macular microperimetry, and dark adaptation testing, allowing you to work with cutting-edge technology.

- Experience as an ophthalmic technician, photographer, and/or scribe, with a strong foundation in medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- High school diploma or GED, with a focus on science and mathematics.
- Strong work ethic, professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills, ensuring seamless collaboration with our team.
- Experience working in a Retina clinic, with a deep understanding of our specialty and its unique challenges.
- Scribes with experience using MD Intellysys (Nextech EMR), allowing you to leverage your technical skills.
- COA or COT certification, demonstrating your expertise and commitment to our field.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English), enabling you to communicate effectively with our diverse patient population.
- Ability to work at any of our 5 locations, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
