About the Role

Mayo Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our eye care team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our ophthalmologists and optometrists.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for eye exams and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Perform ancillary tests and procedures as directed by ophthalmologists and optometrists.
  • Assist with patient scheduling, registration, and billing processes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs) a must.
  • Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) within 2 years of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required within 6 months of hire.
